Welcome To The Antique Cabinet For your consideration is a lovely Antique DURAND Art Glass Trumpet or Torchiere Table Lamp, circa 1924 -1932. The Vineland Flint Glass Works was established by Victor Durand and Victor Durand, Jr. around 1897. Durand Art Glass Shop, a division of Vineland Flint Glass Works, was established in late 1924 with the help of Martin Bach, Jr. (who had inherited the Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Company’s formulas from his father. Becoming known around the company as the “Fancy Shop”, they produced very elegant art glass, lamps and other specialty items. Durand Art Glass was only produced for about 7 years with this being a very fine example of why Victor Durand’s Art Glass is so highly admired and collected. The shade has a towering trumpet style body and beautifully decorated in the well documented “Moorrish Crackle” design. Durand is famous for this difficult technique which was achieved by dipping hot plated glass into water which fractured the outside layers. The glass would then be reheated and blown into shape. This would cause the fractures to spread apart and expose some of the different colors. Many pieces were damaged in this challenging process. Measures approx. 13¼” tall by 4½” wide at top. It is in great condition, the glass is free of any chips, cracks, or repairs and very lite age-related wear. The metal shade collar on the top of base has a few vertical splits, the base has no repairs and lite age-related wear. The lamp does work though we highly recommend as with all used electrical items that all components be inspected by a qualified person before use.
