Click images to enlarge Description For Consideration is a Rare 18th Century 3-Piece Blacksmith Forged Wrought Iron French Colonial 5 Candle Wall Sconces! This Simply Incredible Antique circa 1750’s-1800 Blacksmith made French Colonial three piece Candle Wall Sconces. The two larger pieces measure 22.25 inches tall by 10.0 inches wide and hold two candles each. The Middle piece which may have been made by a separate blacksmith as the frame differs in design slightly measures 14.0 inches tall by 11.0 inches wide. The main body of the larger sconces are made up of forge and fused strips of iron branching out like a Tree and forming the scroll like designs, The Candle holders are made in two pieces and fused together. The middle sconce is a very similar design with the exception of it’s frame which is four piece diamond shape with each branch attached separately. We purchased this set out of a amazing 18th century lighting collection, shipped to us from England about 20 years ago and had been on display in a former private Revolutionary War Military Museum in Massachusetts. As these were Blacksmith made each piece differs slightly. Condition is very nice with no apparent missing pieces.Very Dark almost Black patina with just a hint of surface rust forming.
