This version of the disc is Eric McCabe's signature disc, and was designed to his specifications. This disc will hold any line you give it, and is often used as a very effective upshot driver. Offering a predictable fade but a long flight with its high glide, this disc holds true every time you throw it. Lava Details: Durability9 Softness7 Grip 8 Dynamic Discs Lava plastic is the grippier, more flexible version of premium Fuzion plastic. It's durable enough that it will take some time to beat in, and will hold it's true flight for longer, while also offering a flexible grippy feel. I recently misplaced my trusty Gstar Teebird (I think I literally just left it laying on the course when switching discs – don't you hate that?), so I wanted a new option for an overstable disc between my Zone and my 9-speeds in the bag. Most of the holes on my local course are in the 200'-230' range, so I was curious whether I'd like this disc for the shots that I'd usually dial down the Teebird for. This is an outstanding midrange mold! The ESP Buzzz is probably my most-used disc, and the EMac is definitely more stable-to-overstable and has more glide than that Buzzz. I threw some drives with the EMac in the field and found that I could crank it without much fear of an accidental turnover. It would more easily get out past 250' than my Buzzz. Its flight was impressively straight with no visible turn at that distance. The fade at the end of the flight was noticeable, but smooth and reliable on flat and slightly inclined releases – right where I wanted it for shallow dogleg shots. This disc can also handle a decent hyzer or spike hyzer line at short range, and is a nice approach forehand disc. Compared to a Roc I was considering, the smaller bead on the Truth was more comfortable for me. The rim of the EMac Truth is very similar to a Buzzz, but it feels ever so slightly easier to powergrip if you like driving with a midrange. Handfeel is person-specific, so I can't speak to whether you should choose it over its popular competitors, but I get the appeal of this somewhat overstable mid! I say somewhat beginner friendly because if you have a really spongy arm like I did when I started, the overstability might be a bit frustrating. However, if you're coming up on 150'-200' and can get a reasonably flat release, this disc is money. Spanky Spanky (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) May 25 2021 11:32AM My Flight Ratings 5/6.5/-0.5/1.5Very Beginner Friendly Ok to start, this disc's numbers have to be way off…but in a good way. It also depends on the state of your disc as well. Right now mine flies as listed below. The speed rating of five is pretty spot on. However, the glide of this disc is amazing. It's listed as an approach but it easily blurs the line between approach and control driver. I actually prefer this disc in the prime plastic as it beats in a little faster and lets you get that subtle negative turn before the fade. This disc is also very responsive to release angle. With a flat release you get a very small “S” in your line with a smooth finish. With just a little bit of anhyzer you can get a nice say -2 turn for about 150 ft. If you put some power behind it and release on a hyzer, it will flip up nicely, stay straight and then finish with the predictable fade. I throw rhfh and rhbh but I really don't use this for my forehand shots as much. Its great with touch from about 50 ft out rhfh but if I am throwing a longer shot there are other discs that I prefer. That isn't to say it can't, I'm just not the guy to do it. I will also say that most of the ones I have had were flat to almost puddle top. I had one that was a bit more pop topped. It flew fine but didn't feel as good. In the end its a disc that fills a lot of slots in a bag. Especially for new players trying to get a bit more distance, this is a great option for a longer approach disc. If I were kitting out a new player this would be in their bag. TLerose TLerose (Review Participant, L2, Intermediate) Apr 26 2021 6:27AM My Flight Ratings 5/5/-0.5/1Somewhat Beginner Friendly 178g Prime Burst EMac Truth I initially got this because my friend had one and he threw it very straight with forehands so when i saw one i bought it. The whole forehand thing didn't work for me but i had been struggling trying to throw my other midranges, Buzz, Rancho Roc, and Mako3, so i tried it backhand and this thing just flew. It had amazing distance and impeccable accuracy, anywhere i wanted to throw it it would go exactly there. You can manipulate this disc to make it go anywhere and that is why i love it. It doesn't really fly like its numbers say it does in my opinion its extremely straight and has a bit of fade at the end. Liitastic Liitastic (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) Mar 11 2021 8:26PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly Better than the Buzzz! So many players sleep on this incredible disc, and it does not get the level of praise it deserves. Truth is: the Truth shall set you free! I was blessed to get a Prime EMAC Truth in my starter box. At first it was a bit too overstable for my beginner form, so I learned technique by throwing the Judge and Champion Mako3. Eventually, as a developing player, I worked in the EMAC Truth as my most overstable disc for getting around corners and for flicks. As my original has been worn down by tree collisions, I purchased a Lucid EMAC Truth for a truly reliable 0 turn and 2 fade. In my current bag, this gives me varying levels of midrange stability and fits right between my Mako3 and Zone. One year into disc golf, the Lucid EMAC Truth has a permanent spot in my bag. The EMAC Truth feels great in the hand with its smooth contours and hardly noticeable, medium-sized bead. The smooth wing of this disc allows for magically clean releases. As far as flight goes, I can always expect this disc to fly straight with stellar glide, and then fade left (RHBH) as it slows down. The amount of fade depends on the height I give it, and in calm conditions I can absolutely rip this disc without turning it over! This midrange flies as far as a driver! It knocked out my Teebird because I am confident there are no holes in my bag between the EMAC Truth and my 9-speeds (Thunderbird, Valkyrie, Sidewinder). Richard Richard (Review Enthusiast, L4, Beginner) Mar 8 2021 6:24PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/1.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly 180g Lucid EMac Truth The EMac Truth is a fantastic midrage. It has a great feel, not shallow but not too deep. It has a barely noticeable microbead. I can throw it backhand or forehand with a nice clean release. So far the lucid plastic has been very durable with good grip. The EMac Truth is a very stable straight fliyer. If I throw it with solid power, it goes straight nearly as far as my 7 speed control driver. It has a reliable fade, but not too pronounced finish. If you want to throw it a little softer for an approach, you can definitely look for a nice strong fading finish for placement shots. SouthPawCros SouthPawCros (Review Enthusiast, L4, Beginner) Jan 23 2021 6:10PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly This disc makes me wonder why I bother with drivers since it goes nearly as far for my slower arm speed. Once you learn the fade it's pretty easy to hone in on a landing spot and just kinda chuck it out there and watch it hit the mark every time. Aside from tunnel shots this disc can just about do it all from 300 feet in. Carsonjl25 Carsonjl25 (Review Enthusiast, L4, Intermediate) Nov 3 2020 8:04AM My Flight Ratings 5/4/-1.5/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly I've had a prime and a lucid version. They both have totally different flight patterns. The numbers for the prime are definitely 5 5 0 2. It's a very flat top and on a forehand flick, which is what I use it for, it flies very flat and straight. My lucid version has a bit of a dome and on a forehand flick or regular forehand, it flies like a 5 5 -1 2. It has a considerable amount of turn, especially for a mid-range. Although I almost got my first ace with this disc, it's very much only useful on very certain shots, especially with the turn on my lucid version. Evan Miller Evan Miller (Review Supporter, L3, Advanced) Oct 21 2020 10:35AM My Flight Ratings 5.5/5/-0.5/1.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly The EMac Truth is a great mid in a lot of ways, but it is not my favorite. I will say that this disc goes very far, especially for a midrange. It can get out just short of most fairway drivers and thus will give a lot of control for longer shots. This distance comes at a cost. I found that the EMac Truth has a bit more turn and more fade in comparison to other popular midranges like the Buzzz or M4. Those discs hold their angle better and do not have the same fade at the end of the flight as this disc does. I think this is an excellent disc for a longer, more open course. Tight courses that require a lot of speed and angle control, however, I would prefer a Buzzz or M4. Jonbuss2 Jonbuss2 (Review Nut, L7, Intermediate) Oct 4 2020 5:00AM My Flight Ratings 5/5/-0.5/2Very Beginner Friendly I have several of these in both lucid and lucid-x plastic. All 177g+. Lucid: Unbelievable glide, I can get these out almost as far as my 7 speeds. Out of the box they're reliably straight but as I've played more and tried other similar mids, I don't trust these as soon as they start to beat in. They get about a -0.5 to -1 turn pretty quickly, but will fight back. Lucid-X: Not quite as glidey as regular lucid but still good distance. More reliable straight flight and left finish than non X plastic. If I were bagging this disc still, it would be in this plastic for sure. Overall good disc, I just can't trust the non X plastic after a few rounds, so I've moved onto another stable mid that holds its stability more reliably. SpinBass SpinBass (Review Participant, L2, Beginner) Sep 24 2020 12:09PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly I have 2 prime and 1 lucid, this and Judge are the only DD that make my bag. The EMac is always in my bag and is my straightest flying disc out to 225 I use this on most longer upshots thrown forehand, although some call for backhand in which case I prefer the Buzzz. The primes that I've had are flat top and comfortable while the lucid is slightly domey and a little sharp – only use EMac forehand. Only been playing 3 months and have been able to ace from a drop zone across lake around 175 feet and a few birdies with this disc. Won't be leaving my bag anytime soon. The only disc I have that compares to this disc's forehand capabilities might be Kaxe Z but it isn't as straight although it is more comfortable, premium and longer. A new player's mid range could be covered with this disc and a Buzzz. The Prime gets beat up easily but the Lucid isn't the same disc. I would like DD to identify the next step up the speed scale from this disc it isn't the Escape!. tlindgren17 tlindgren17 (Review Nut, L7, Intermediate) Sep 20 2020 9:22AM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly I had to chase in my lifetime. The first one was a 5/5/0/2 and the one I have now is a 5/5/-1/1. I really enjoyed them both. The grip I feel and the distance I get out of them is pretty incredible overall. The one with more fade I didn't get as much distance but I felt I could control it a lot better and also get a more consistent drive than I currently can with the other one. I even got my first ace with his disc. It holds up in very windy situations, I think the truth is a very good disc overall, I've driven with it, I've used it for controlled shots, I have used it for really high flip up shots, and I've also even putted with it in the past. At the time I really enjoyed putting with it just simply because the amount of control I thought I had with it at longer distance was nice, as my putting has gotten a lot better I've come to realize that although it is still a good putter like disc, there are better putters out there to use and obviously this is so since this is a mid range. But if you haven't tried the truth, I would suggest getting one, then I would also suggest getting it with the ratings of 5/5/-1/1 Hurler23 Hurler23 (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) Sep 13 2020 7:15PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly I picked up an EMac Truth after grip locking my Lucid Truth in to the junk. I was looking to replace that disc with another Truth but all that was available at the time was an Emac. There are definite differences between the two. The Truth is much straighter and easier to control (grip lock excluded). It had a nice straight flight that was easy to obtain. The EMac was a bit tougher to wrangle in order to get the same or comparable flight. A level throw that would finish with slight fade now had a much more pronounced fade. The distance was slightly shorter as well. With time I have learned the nuances of the EMac in order to make it a very predictable disc. I prefer it over the Buzzz SS and the Roc3 although both are great discs. I like the disc feel. Actually it really is a combination of the Buzzz and Roc3 in its structure, flight and feel. I recommend for nearly all players. Newer or less experienced players will enjoy this disc but there is a learning curve to get it to do what you want it to do. And just like my long lost disc: The Truth is out there. Justin N. Stewart Justin N. Stewart (Reader, Intermediate) Sep 1 2020 1:46PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Neutral I got an EMac at a tournament a couple months ago and I used it the whole time I was there for my upshots to the basket. The weight really helps it to stay more stable and make it to the basket and make a bid for a putt. jishguy jishguy (Review Enthusiast, L4, Intermediate) Jun 18 2020 8:41PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/-5/1.5Somewhat Beginner Friendly This was a disc which took me two years to find a spot in my bag for it. I bought a sparkle lucid eMac Truth a couple of years ago, expecting it to replace my old, beat up Roc3. First time I threw it on a hyzer approach, it flipped up and carried 50' long. I found the flight to be inconsistent and slightly unpredictable. In headwinds it would turn and burn, in tailwinds it would hold straight. A couple of years later, I was looking for something I could power down on and have it hold straight with very (very) gentle fade, and this fit the bill. When thrown at 50-60% power, it rides straight, turns slightly, and gently fades left. I was expecting this disc to be a bit more beefy than it was, but it ended up being more of a “point and shoot” type. I heard Paige Pierce say that she could grab 12 eMac truths off the shelf and all 12 would fly differently, so I believe this is a rather inconsistent mold. I did recently get a lucid-x eMac truth, which is reliably and predictably overstable. Shupp92 Shupp92 (Reader, Intermediate) May 12 2020 7:04PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2.5Neutral How I found the truth… After throwing the buzz for a couple years I just never felt super confident with it. I would only get the shot I really wanted from it occasionally. With the Emac truth I look forward to pulling it out. I feel lot more confident putting it on all kinds of angles. Can't wait to throw this thing more and get some more distance out of it Tyler Tyler (Review Enthusiast, L4, Intermediate) May 4 2020 1:16PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/3N/A This disc is perfect for upshots around a tree or other optical. It feels great in the hand and is very concistant. It handles wind very well. Jackson Pittman Jackson Pittman (Review Grand Master, L13, Advanced) Apr 29 2020 12:31PM My Flight Ratings 5/6/0/2Very Beginner Friendly Disc – Lucid EMac Truth Feel – The EMac Truth is possibly the best feeling mid in the market. It is not deep or shallow and seems to fit in everyone's hand. It has a microbead but it is not noticeable at all. It fits nicely for a forehand or a backhand. Lucid plastic, in my opinion, is the best plastic in the game. It is very grippy, while still being very durable. Flight – The flight of this disc is extremely straight with the tiniest bit of finish at the end. It flies extremely far for a mid and has great glide. As this disc beats in, it becomes very straight and then later in its life can become a great turnover mid. Overall – The EMac truth is definitely my favorite mid and possibly one of my favorite discs in my bag. It can be thrown for a wide variety of shots and think that almost any player can benefit from having it in their bag. Waggonab Waggonab (Review Master, L10, Intermediate) Apr 9 2020 5:34AM My Flight Ratings 5/5/-0.5/1.5Neutral I got an Emac Truth in Prime Burst with my Hypnosis Stamp on it from Infinite discs originally, and LOVED it! It flew straight and finished left, just like I wanted. And it was super flat on top like I love for forehands. Unfortunately, the first day I owned it, it ended up getting run over by a truck on gravel at a local park and that completely chewed up the bottom rim. So, now it flies very understable, which defeats the purpose of this disc for me. So, I immediately bought the Emac in Lucid plastic, and I love it even more! It's slightly more stable than the Prime Burst, but way more durable. It flies/glides straight forever, and then reliably finishes left. It's a tad bit less stable than a Roc3, Quite a bit less stable than a Buzzz OS, and way less stable than a Justice. So, when I want a reliable mid-range that I can trust, this is it! The only thing I don't love is that this Lucid version has a bit of a dome to the top, and I'm not as much a fan of it for forehands for that reason. If it had the same flat top, I'd give this disc a 100%! MrDrProfPaddy MrDrProfPaddy (Reviewer Elite L9, Intermediate) Apr 4 2020 12:32PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly This is a great midrange disc. It's very straight with only a slight bit of turn, and the 2 fade means that it tends to finish a little left. It's comparable to a Buzzz for most of its flight, though the Emac Truth does fade a little more. Beat in, they fly more like normal Truths. dynamicdane dynamicdane (Review Enthusiast, L4, Intermediate) Mar 3 2020 10:50AM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Neutral Everyone knows this disc, and most people who throw this disc love it. I am no different. This might be my absolute favorite disc I have ever thrown. It is a max distance mid-range, flying farther than some of my fairways. It feels amazing in the hand, and it can do whatever you need. It can hold a hyzer, it can flip to flat, and it can be on a controlled anhyzer. This is my got to disc for woods and technical shots, and shots that are in the 300-350 range. Great distance, reliable and controlling disc, and a great addition to anybody looking for a new midrange. Felix Vega Felix Vega (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) Jan 29 2020 1:07PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly This is the best disc I have thrown. I picked this disc up when I was about 5 months into playing and it has never left the bag. When you start out this will be a bit over stable and will teach you how to throw flat shots. As your game progresses, this disc will grow with you. For me it is a go to for anything 200-300 feet. If I had to do a one disc round, I would chose and EMac Truth! Dan43334 Dan43334 (Reader, Intermediate) Dec 29 2019 7:14PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Very Beginner Friendly Hands down the best mid on the market. I bag 4 of them in various weights. This is my go to disc for anything under 275. It's predictable, pick a line and let it rip. Tom Tom (Review Supporter, L3, Intermediate) Dec 18 2019 3:41PM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/1Somewhat Beginner Friendly I throw this disc in both Lucid Air and Lucid plastics. I would say that I really like both plastics, as they can be max distance midranges. I would say that the lucid air is a bit less stable than the numbers suggest, but it is a very good disc for my armspeed. Jonathan Israeli Jonathan Israeli (Reader, Intermediate) Dec 18 2019 11:15AM My Flight Ratings 5/5/0/2Somewhat Beginner Friendly I love this disc, it's a go to mid. What ever I throw it on, it glides forever. Best mid to rely on.
