Offered for your consideration… DEADBALL ERA EXHIBIT POSTCARD Deadball Exhibits Checklist ~ Series 3* *Sixteen (16) pictured players on this card: Red Ames, Frank [Homerun] Baker, Wid Conroy, Bob Emslie, Steve Evans, Duffy Lewis, Christy Mathewson, Freddy Parent, Deacon Phillippe, Wally Pipp, Ray Schalk, Fred Snodgrass, George Stallings, Zack Wheat, Vic Willis, Heinie Zimmerman Not a reprint, but a 2008 hand-made creation by MWC Deadball Exhibits are exclusive productions of Mike Wheat Cards (MWC). Each card is printed on a quality, heavy card stock and measures 3-3/8 by 5-3/8 inches, features a borderless design and is reminiscent of cards originally produced by the Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago during the 1920s. The backs are cream colored with a postcard style. MWC’s manufacturing process included affixing the player photograph and vintage-style post card back to a solid middle core which provides excellent rigidity. These cards, with their varied poses and topflight subjects, capture much of the flavor of those bygone days!The Deadball era generally refers to the first two decades of the 20th century prior to the introduction of the lively ball: 1919 in the American League and 1920 in the National. From Mike Wheat Cards literature: “Unlike many recent issues, these replicate the style and quality of many of the sets produced during the first two decades of the 20th Century, baseball’s “deadball era”. We have taken care to avoid the glossy finishes which detract from so many reprint sets and “nostalgic” issues. Instead, these cards have a matte finish, much like many of the issues of the time.” In total, 128 different subjects (plus 8 series checklist cards – each picturing 16 of the cards in each series) were produced and included several Federal League stars as well as executives, managers and umpires in addition to more than 100 American and National Leaguers of the period. Please note that these online images cannot do justice to the quality of the cards. You truly must see the actual card to fully appreciate it. This is a very exciting modern issue which focuses on the pre-lively ball era baseball players!Very Limited Production: As few as 50 and less than 100 of any card The production run is complete. MWC Deadball Exhibits were quite literally a hand-made product requiring great skill and, occasionally, a bit of trial and error. To say these are “Limited Editions” would be quite an understatement. These fine cards were not printed in the 1,000’s or even 100’s. NO card was printed in even 100 quatity! Collecting Tip: Cards of this size fit perfectly in standard 4-pocket sheets designed for old-style postcards (Exhibits, too!) and similar size pictures. Condition: Near-Mint or better Shipping OPTIONS are available – YOUR CHOICE of either eBay standard envelope service (ESE) which is cheaper with slower delivery or USPS Ground Advantage (more costly for single cards but much faster delivery). We also offer UNLIMITED singles (up to and including 8X10 inches in size) shipped via Ground Advantage for the one card rate.
